Apple appears to move ahead and away from Intel in new event
Apple announced a radical departure from its Intel-based desktops and laptops today. New MacBook Air’s, MacBook Pro’s and Mac Mini’s now feature an ARM-based Apple M1 processor.
The Australian pricing remains pretty similar to previous models, although now ship with the new chip that promises higher performance with less power usage across the board.
Mac software that isn’t updated for the new laptops will still run, just through an emulation solution called Rosetta 2. Apple even claimed that some of this emulated software will run better than its native Intel counterparts, without any work from developers, though recompiled, ported software will naturally be enhanced.
A new MacBook Air starts at A$1,599.00 or A$1,949.00, a two-port MacBook Pro starts at A$1,999.00 or A$2,299.00, and a Mac Mini starts at A$1,099.00 or A$1,399.00.
